Purveyors of quality, handcrafted sketchbooks and journals since 1998, Neko Heavy Industries uses the best components available, sourced from American manufacturers and produced on American-made equipment. We also upcycle reclaimed materials and use minimal electricity in our shop; all of which adds up to an extremely eco-friendly product you can feel good about.
Featuring a rugged ball-and-socket binding that allows for infinite refill-ability, each book is individually numbered for ease of re-ordering a fresh stock of pages or experimenting with different media. And because the bindings are easily opened and re-closed, books lay flat, fold completely around, and let pages change order and move in and out for scanning, spraying, submitting, or framing. The elastic closure not only holds your book closed, but holds reference material and keeps pages from lifting in breezy environments. We use acid-free, Forest Stewardship Council certified papers that are super-smooth, and each book includes a bleed-proof sheet to keep your work safe.
Warrantied for quality and fully customizable, our line of sketchbooks and journals can be ordered from our online shop, and found at local retailers, craft shows and conventions throughout Michigan.

Here at Neko Heavy Industries, we design our products with two main objectives: first, creating a product that we, as artists, would like to use, and second, breathing new life into vintage materials.
Our Original Sketchbook featured removable bindings, a bleed-through protection page, and an elastic closure that allowed the book to fold flat or convert into an easel. Over the years, as our vision has evolved, we have updated our design and expanded our line to include journals, comic art boards and artist trading cards, as well as vintage and imported artist supplies.
